12:40pm Campbell sisters miss out the medals in 100m freestyle
In a massive boilover gold medal favourite Cate Campbell has finished sixth in the 100m freestyle, while sister Bronte finished fourth.

Cate Campbell turned after 50m well ahead of the pack but faded on the final 50m to be swallowed up by the field.
It was a dead heat for the gold.

12:15pm Michael Phelps you absolute freak

Michael Phelps becomes the first swimmer to ever win an event four Olympics in a row.

He destroyed his opponents to storm home in the 200m IM and claim his 22nd Olympic gold medal, his fourth of this meet.

The fashion in which is crushed everyone in the final lap has to be seen to be believed.
11:33am SILVER MEDAL for Larkin in 200m backstroke

Mitch Larkin has shaken the disappointment of his 100m backstroke performance to win silver in the 200m backstroke.

Larkin went out hard and lead at the first turn but Ryan Murphy made his move at the halfway mark to win gold and claim the 100m, 200m backstroke double.
Larkin was clearly disappointed following the swim, saying he came to Rio wioth the goal of two gold.

11:32am McKeown misses out on medal in breastroke

Aussie Taylor McKeown has just missed out on a medal in the 200m breastroke.

11:13am McEvoy misses 50m freestyle final

Cam McEvoy finished seventh in his semi final to miss the final altogether.

He handled it with the same poise he did the disappointment of yesterday's 100m.

Rio's heavily scrutinised wates have claimed their first 'victim', a Belgian female sailor who won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics.

Evi Van Acker is the first sailor to fall sick and said she felt symptoms after Wednesday's races in the heavily polluted Guanabara Bay waters.

Hockeyroos have all but secured a quarter-final spot in the hockey after beating Argentina 1-0.

But then Liz Cambage took control of the game and the Opals stormed home.

His coach however said, "He just wasn't there at the right time. And that is mental."
