7th Tackle: Titanic Origin duo set to stay

Jarryd Hayne’s deadline to extend his $1.2 million contract at the Titans falls on the day of Origin I, creating plenty of intrigue in Blues camp about what he’ll do.

Hayne has been making all the right noises about wanting to stay on the Gold Coast, although we should know by now to expect the unexpected when it comes to the game’s most indefinable character.

And the man who played a huge role in getting Hayne to the Titans – former Eels teammate Nathan Peats – is also odds-on to remain.

Peats’ father Geordi, who also lives on the Gold Coast, this week told us he couldn’t see his son living elsewhere in the short term, particularly with a second child expected in just over a month.
