Broncos cop more injury drama as Ezra Mam limps off at training amid Adam Reynolds NRL setback

The Broncos are trying to manage another injury to their halves pairing as Ezra Mam was seen limping out of training with Adam Reynolds already set to miss a number of weeks with a hamstring strain. Broncos fans became worried last Thursday when Reynolds limped off at half-time and didn't return.

The 33-year-old suffered a hamstring injury and will be another major absentee to the team who have missed a number of superstars in recent weeks. And fans will be closely following the fitness of Mam with the superstar five-eighth limping off the training field on Monday.

Despite the concern for Mam, there didn't appear to be too much in it with Kotono Staggs confident the 21-year-old will take to the field. "Ezra will be right. He will get himself ready to go," Broncos centre Staggs said.

While Mam should be ready, so should the new-look Reece Walsh. The fullback was expected to miss between four to six weeks after breaking his eye socket in a head clash with Taylan May. However, after just three weeks, Walsh is set to line-up for the Broncos against the Dolphins on Friday night.

The superstar fullback has been seen wearing pink headgear in training and might be ready to take back the No.1 jersey in a huge boost for the Broncos. "Reece has done everything right to be back in the team," Staggs added on the fullback.

"All of his rehab went well and it is good to have him back out on the park doing what he does best. One thing he has picked up is how he goes about (rehabbing) his injuries. He got on top of everything and has got back earlier than expected - that is him doing all the hard yards people don't really see."

Replacement halfback Jock Madden will replace Reynolds and pair up with Mam. Meanwhile, after another injury, Corey Oates could join the starting XIII to replace winger Deine Mariner.

Adam Reynolds cops brutal injury setback

Reynolds has already missed games this year with a recurrence of a knee injury, and has now suffered damage to the hamstring on the same leg. Thankfully he has seemingly avoided another knee injury.

A distraught Reynolds was seen in tears at half-time in the Broncos dressing rooms on Thursday night and he cut a forlorn figure as he watched the second half from the bench. "It just tightened up in that first half," he said after the match.

"It didn't feel too good at half-time but I will get back to Brisbane, get a scan and go from there. I felt it early on in the game and it gradually got worse ... I was trying to get through to half-time to see where I was but then I saw a bit of space on the short side and tried to take off and it didn't feel too good there."

The injury to Reynolds compounds the Broncos' injury woes with Payne Haas and Brendan Piakura also sidelined. Piakura is set to miss around four weeks after spraining his ankle. The Broncos are not the only team dealing with an extensive injury toll.

The Roosters will be without James Tedesco and Sam Walker this week. Replacement Sandon Smith is out injured and the team will also be missing Dom Young after the winger copped a two-match ban for a head-high on Blake Taafe on Friday night.
