'Beautiful scene': Ukrainian star embraces rival in heartwarming act

Ukrainian tennis star Marta Kostyuk and Ukrainian-born player Maryna Zanevska were involved in a beautiful moment following their Indian Wells match.

The tennis community have rallied together to condemn Russia's war on Ukraine since President Vladimir Putin announced the invasion.

A number of high-profile stars have made bold stands during Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Most recently, Ukraine star Dayana Yastremska said she would donate her winnings from the Lyon Open run to a foundation in Ukraine to help out with the war efforts.

Russian World No.1 Medvedev distanced himself further from his native Russia, with a telling move in the wake of the bloody invasion of Ukraine.

Djokovic also offered to lend Ukrainian tennis star Sergiy Stakhovsky support with the retired star having returned to Ukraine to help fight the invasion.

Now, the Ukrainian-born Belgium star Zanevska has shown her class in embracing Ukraine player Kostyuk after losing the match at Indian Wells.

Kostyuk came from behind to win the deciding set in a thrilling 6-7, 7-6, 7-5 round of 128 match.

But in a sign that there are more important things going on in the world right now, Zanevska put aside the difficulty of the loss and embraced Kostyuk in a beautiful moment after the match.

Tennis world praises Ukraine unity

Tennis fans were quick to praise the beautiful act, which shows the solidarity among tennis players against the turmoil going on back in Ukraine.

Marta Kostyuk will now face another Belgian star in Elise Mertens in the round of 64.
