Fighter storms out of cage after headbutt

Diego Brando has lost his bout with Akhmet Aliev via TKO after taking a headbutt and storming out of the cage mid-fight.

During a fiery bout in the main event of FNG 73 in Kaspiysk, Dagestan, Brando suffered his first post-UFC loss after he refused to take further part in the fight with Aliev.

An angry crowd threw bottles and jeered at Brando as he opted to leave the cage, but the former UFC star was unflinching in his effort to leave.

The referee even urged Brando to stay, shouting "please stay and fight".

Brando was responding to some dirty tactics from his opponent in the second round, with footage showing Aliev head-butting him in the chest and also throwing wild punches after the referee intervenes.

Brando lashed out with a kick to the throat before exiting the cage.

He later attempted to return to the bout but the referee insisted it was over as soon as he left the cage.

"I'm so sorry for you,” the referee said to Brandao.

"Why were you leaving the cage?"
