Ring girl 'more surprised than injured' after post-fight punch

MMA officials have confirmed the ring girl who was accidentally punched after a fight was more surprised than injured by the shocking incident.

MMA fighter Andrew Whitney accidentally KO'd the woman after losing his fight by unanimous decision to Farkhad Sharipov.

"In the immediate aftermath of losing a very close title fight at Titan FC 42, Andrew Whitney threw a punch out of frustration which unintentionally hit one of our ring card girls," Titan Fighting Championship CEO Jeff Aronson said.

"Our ring card girl was attended to by the ringside doctor and officials. She indicated she was fine and was more surprised by the punch than injured."

"Titan FC is broadcast around the world and we expect our athletes to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times."

Chilling footage showed the moment Whitney made contact with the ring girl standing behind him when he lashed out in frustration after learning of his defeat.

Whitney immediately realised his mistake and tried to catch the unlucky woman before she fell to the ground.
