Police launch investigation into couple's 'lewd' act at MLB game

Video has gone viral on social media of the couple engaging in what appears to be a sex act during a game between the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners at RingCentral Coliseum.

Crowd numbers at Athletics games have been way down this season, with fans boycotting the team over the ownership's decision to part ways with their biggest players and not make any lucrative signings.
So it was very easy to spot the couple getting very intimate while sitting near the back of one of the bleachers during Sunday's game.
Attendance for the game was just 9314 at the 35,067-seat stadium.

Video of the incident has been viewed over two million times on social media, with police now revealing they are investigating.
“The Oakland Police Department was not alerted to this until after the game," a spokesperson said.
“We have initiated an investigation. However, the parties have not been identified and no one has been cited/arrested at this time.
"The violation is 647(a) PC. Lewd acts in public.”
If charged and found guilty, the could could face up to six months in prison and a fine of up to $1400.
The Athletics are currently last in the American League west division with an abysmal record of 45-78.
One fan joked on Twitter: “More action in the stands (than) on the field.”
Fans have also been poking fun of the incident at subsequent games, making mention of it on banners and signs in the stands.
Oakland Athletics' woes go from bad to worse
On Monday night, the Athletics drew their second-lowest home crowd ever with just 2630 fans in attendance for a 3-0 loss to the Miami Marlins.
Rookie pitcher Edward Cabrera gave up just two hits over eight innings in another impressive start, and Charles Leblanc homered.
Cabrera walked the first two Oakland batters, then quickly found his groove. He wanted to finish the game and pleaded with manager Don Mattingly to go out for the ninth, but his night was done as a precaution to avoid potential injury.
“I like that he was fighting,” Mattingly said.
Cabrera (4-1) retired the final 14 batters in the longest outing of his career. He’d previously gone 6 1/3 innings last year.
He struck out seven and walked three in the 101-pitch performance.
The 24-year-old right-hander has a 1.41 ERA in seven starts this season and continues to gain confidence with his steady pitching.
“I worked hard in the offseason on the little things to be more consistent,” Cabrera said. “I’m 100% confident in myself and my pitching.”
