Kochie mocks 'John Farnham of boxing' Anthony Mundine

Sunrise host David Koch has whacked Anthony Mundine with a hilarious dose of truth after the ‘retired’ boxer’s latest bombshell announcement.

‘The Man’ appeared on Koch’s Channel Seven breakfast TV program on Thursday morning to officially reveal yet another career backflip.

Mundine called time on his boxing career after being destroyed by Jeff Horn courtesy of a 96 second knockout in November last year.

However, the former rugby league star then sensationally backflipped by pleading with Horn for a rematch, insisting he couldn’t bow out in those circumstances.

Horn poured cold water on any thoughts of a rematch, saying Mundine was “past his best”.

Knowing he has to earn some victories in the ring before Horn even contemplates the thought of going toe-to-toe again, Mundine joined Koch and the Sunrise team to confirm that he was coming out of retirement again to fight Aussie Michael Zerafa – a man who has called him out previously.

“Mate, you are the John Farnham of boxing,” Koch replied to Mundine’s latest plan to step back into the ring.

The comparison didn’t sit well with The Man, who is still adamant he has what it takes to match it with the country’s best boxers.

“I don’t know about that man. I might be the new Michael Jackson,” Mundine said.

“I’m going to come back from the dead. You’re all going to see it.

“I just want to get back with Jeff Horn and we will see what happens. Obviously, if I lose again, I’m done. It’s finished. It’s over. But I really feel like I’m feeling too good and too fresh. I’m still feeling great.”

Mundine suggested that talks with Horn’s team convinced him to target other fighters in a bid to get the rematch he so craves.

“After reflecting on the last fight, I wanted to sail into the sunset.”

“I wanted to win that fight and sail off into the sunset and live happily ever after, but you know, the way things turned out through God’s will, I really feel that The Man can’t go out like that.

“I can’t go out in that fashion. I need to make sure I go out with a victory.

“I need to get back and try and match Jeff Horn, but they want me to have a win or two first.”
