Candice Warner spills on David's baggy green saga amid new revelation about Sonny Bill

The wife of the Aussie cricket hero has lifted the lid during her stint on 'I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!'

Candice Warner has addressed a number of recent (and not-so recent) controversies during her stint on 'I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!', including her infamous tryst with Sonny Bill Williams and the saga surrounding husband David's missing baggy green. Candice is in the jungle this year for the Network 10 reality TV show, and hasn't been afraid to speak her mind.

On Sunday night's episode she addressed the infamous scandal surrounding Williams when the pair were caught in a toilet cubicle together in Clovelly in 2007. Candice was single at the time and an elite ironwoman, while Williams was just starting his NRL career with the Bulldogs.

When asked to speak about “the hardest part of your career so far” on Sunday night, Candice said: “I think the hardest part of my life would have been 17 years ago. I make one silly mistake as a young girl and that was it.

“I remember just the hurt and pain that I caused my family because of comments that were made about me in the media. That was probably the hardest period of my life in just how relentless it was. It was just constant.”

In a separate piece to camera, Candice lifted the lid on some of the awful treatment she received in the aftermath, which resulted in a move from Sydney to Perth. “When I was a lot younger, there was a lot of, I guess, scrutiny on me and name calling and online bullying towards me over a mistake that I made,” she said.

“Then I moved to Perth. My family needed a break from people approaching them and saying, ‘What’s your daughter up to? I’ve read this, I’ve heard that’. I wasn’t perfect but I definitely wasn’t the person that I was made out to be.”

Candice Warner addresses claims about David's baggy green

Meanwhile, Candice is also set to speak about her husband's baggy green that went missing during the SCG Test in January. David was preparing to play the final Test match of his career when a bag containing his baggy green caps mysteriously disappeared.

David issued a public plea for help after he couldn't locate the bag, which turned up in the exact spot it was meant to be during the match. Rumours immediately swirled that the bag was never missing in the first place, and Cricket Australia later suggested the search for the bag wasn't done well enough.

Captain Pat Cummins also seemed to suggest a teammate might have taken the cap as a practical joke, but Candice doesn't think they would have let it get as far as it did. In footage yet to air on 'I'm a Celeb', Candice says: “When we’re in Sydney we stay at home, but all the bags fly together. We were coming from Melbourne, so all the bags in freight got dropped to the team hotel.

"Everyone grabs their bags. We then grab our bags and the bag that the baggy was in wasn’t there. It was not in the team room. So security looked. The bag wasn’t there. The team staff and security at the time said, ‘Mate, consider it gone. We’ve looked, can’t find it, consider it gone’.

“Dave was like, ‘Consider it gone? No way. Not a chance’. And then the bag appeared after the second day of the Test. It appeared in the team room. Right in the middle of the room.

“If someone was to play a prank you wouldn’t let it go beyond a day. You wouldn’t ever let it get that far. He’s just happy he got it back. That was his very last Test match.”
