It looks as though Reni Maitua will become the latest ex-league star to try his hand at boxing.

Our spies in the Eastern Suburbs tell us Maitua has been hitting the pads at a Kensington gym over the past two months, in preparation for his pro debut.

Now working with the NRL’s State of Mind department, Maitua was tight-lipped when we spoke to him yesterday.

Our mail is that he could appear on a card featuring other footballers – from rugby league and beyond – in Melbourne later this year.
