'Hard to watch': WWE great's scary fall sparks 'irresponsible' backlash
Former WWE star Matt Hardy was rushed to hospital after a fall went horribly wrong in a main event, but not before he continued the match.
The wrestling legend recently signed for AEW and was in a match against Sammy Guevara when a stunt went horribly wrong.

Guevara speared Hardy off a platform, but in an apparent botch the pair nearly completely missed the table beneath.
Hardy lay motionless on the concrete floor as he crashed heavily into the ground.

The match was momentarily stopped as the referee made the ‘X’ signal to indicate the match needed to end for the injured wrestler.
But after a stop, and a reported concussion for Hardy, the match continued.
Hardy’s wife, Reby, tweeted he was rushed to hospital and suffered concussion.
Fans slam AEW for Matt Hardy match
This prompted fierce backlash from fans hitting back at the company for allowing the match to continue.

I don’t care if Matt Hardy says he can continue. It shouldn’t be his decision - and he shouldn’t be climbing up structures.#AEWAllOut

Reby Hardy confirms that Matt Hardy is still in hospital and has a concussion, and will require further imaging after his CT scan.
Last night, Tony Khan said he “paused” the match and the doctor cleared Matt Hardy to continue.
Those two statements, for me, are not compatible.— Gary Cassidy (@WrestlingGary) September 6, 2020
I really hope @MATTHARDYBRAND is ok. That was a tough bump to watch - and Matt is no youngster anymore. https://t.co/wUyNgwn0rQ

Here’s where Matt Hardy was out cold momentarily. The match was stopped, but it restarted.
Shortly after, Hardy defeated Sammy by pushing him off some scaffolding.

I’ll say this about Matt Hardy, that match shouldn’t have continued. Dude was lying there motionless for like 45 seconds and could barely stand up. I’m no doctor but I’m sure that’s not good.
And people bringing up what WWE has done is ridiculous. This is NOT a WWE vs AEW thing.— Kier Johnson (@Kier_Johnson97) September 6, 2020
To let Matt Hardy continue after this was ridiculously stupid and dangerous by @AEW & their medical team really should be looking new jobs today because of it. Concussions & head head injuries are too serious to ignore regardless of what the wrestler sayspic.twitter.com/BO5P5UdQ20

Despite his wife claiming he had suffered concussion, the president of AEW wrestling said Hardy had not suffered concussion.
An update on Matt Hardy: it’s great news! Matt’s ok, we sent him to the hospital as a precaution & he’s passed the MRI + CT scans, he doesn’t have a concussion, and he’s being driven home now. Matt will be at Dynamite on Wednesday night to thank you amazing fans for your support!

Either way fans were less than impressed Hardy was able continue the match after the stunt was clearly botched.
