Pop star Miley Cyrus has responded to a bizarre call out from UFC fighter Julian Marquez after he won his bout on the weekend.

Marquez, having not won a fight in the octagon since 2017 after an injury layoff, entered his bout against Maki Pitolo to the song 'Heart of Glass' by the pop star herself.

And then, despite most likely being down on the judges scorecards, choked out his opponent in the third round to mark a long-awaited victory.

And then the 30-year-old surprised fans in his post-fight speech when he asked Cyrus to be his Valentine's date.

"I've waited 30 long months to get on this damn mic and call these people out right now," he said.

"This is my time to shine.

"So, Miley Cyrus will you be my Valentine?"

But in an unexpected twist, Cyrus responded with a call out of her own.

"Shave an MC into your chest hair and I am yours. Happy VDay and Congrats my love," she wrote.

Marquez explains Miley Cyrus call out

The biggest question reporters were wondering following his bout was why Marquez called out Cyrus.

"The real question is, why not," he said.

"I am 30, I grew up watching Hannah Montana...Party in the USA...I've been to her concerts many times.

"She is my love, I love that woman."

Marquez advanced his record to 8-2 after the impressive octagon return.
