UFC fans went absolutely ballistic after prodigious talent Cory Sandhagen delivered what could just be the knockout of the year after a devastating flying knee to Frankie Edgar.

Sandhagen was looking to make a statement in the Bantamweight division ahead of a potential title fight and he did just that against veteran Edgar.

After just 25 seconds, Sandhagen launched himself towards Edgar and caught him with a flush flying knee.

Edgar was unconscious before he even hit the floor as he lay limp after the brutal knockout.

UFC fans couldn’t believe what they had just seen.

Sandhagen in line for title shot

Sandhagen said he didn’t like seeing a champ like Edgar go down like that, but was ecstatic with the victory.

"It feels good, man, but that's Frankie Edgar," Sandhagen said after the fight.

"I don't want to watch that happen to him, you know? But better him than me. That's the game we're in."

Sandhagen has now only lost once in his last 10 fights since 2017.

The 28-year-old should be in line to fight for the title after the championship clash between Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling on March 6.
