Travis Head set for stunning move after brutal 2023 Indian Premier League snub
The World Cup winner is ready to cash in on his form after the brutal snub earlier this year.
World Cup final star Travis Head has silenced his doubters and is set to enter the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, despite a sensational snub this year. Head has remained behind in India to take part in the upcoming T20 cricket series against the host's after proving to be Australia's winner in the knockout stages of the World Cup.
Following up from his player-of-the-match award in the semi-final, Head scored a blistering 137 runs in the final to silence the home crowd in attendance as Pat Cummins' men won the World Cup. Head has shown he is currently irreplaceable at the top of the order for Australia and his white-ball form has been outstanding.

He has also proven himself in Indian conditions this year having batted well in the Border-Gavaskar series earlier in the year, before his World Cup domination. However, only this year, Head was snubbed in the auction for the
Head previously played for the Royal Challenger Bangalore and the Delhi Capitals in his time in the tournament. However, he has only played in 2016 and 2017 where he scored 205 runs in 10 matches. The left-hander will surely be in demand if he puts his name forward having proven his championship mettle under pressure.
He will also have four T20 matches against India starting Friday to put himself forward. Another name reported to be keen to re-enter the auction is Mitchell Starc.
Head's fellow World Cup winner hasn't played in eight years having committed to the test team. However, the 33-year-old could see it as a good time to rejoin the lucrative league after the World Cup.
Travis Head gone unsold in IPL 2023, then came back to India to win the Final with a century against India. Now he will be back in auction again and likley to fetch a big price.

Travis Head remains in India for T20 series
A number of Aussie have remained behind in India to play in the T20 series, which has drawn criticism. Bizarrely, despite months overseas in 2023 for the Ashes and two campaigns in India, Australia are set to play the host nation in a T20 series starting this week.
Fans have slammed the series for going ahead after a gruelling tournament for both teams as David Warner became the latest player to withdraw from the squad. The series kicks off on Friday (just five days after the World Cup final), and has been widely panned as meaningless. Warner, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Mitch Marsh have all arrived home on Wednesday rather than playing in the series, and coach Andrew McDonald is also departing India for a break.
