Tsonga receives 'merci' card from grateful ball girl

The kindest moment of the 2016 Australian Open has taken an appreciative turn into 2017.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won the hearts of many when he helped a distressed ball girl off the court during his match against Aussie youngster Omar Jasika last year.

The girl was in tears and appeared to have come down with an illness, though she attempted to soldier on.

She didn't forget Tsonga's assistance.

"Thank you very much for your letter Giuliana !!!" the French tennis star tweeted on Sunday night.

Attached was a photo of Tsonga walking her off the court and three pictures of a card with 'merci' (thank you) on the front.

"Dear Mr Jo-Wilfried Tsonga," wrote Giuliana.

"I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank-you for helping me out on court during your round 2 match.

"I'm not sure if you remember me but I was the ballgirl you escorted off court."

Giuliana wrote that she had a virus that affected her vision and hearing.

"Thank-you so much for the kindness that you showed me. I really appreciate that you were able to see that I needed some help and were kind enough to escort me off court," she wrote.
