Two more Rio athletes sent home after doping violations

As the Olympics wind toward their inevitable close, the stories of Olympic athletes caught doping are beginning to ramp up.

Just hours after announcing the first medalist to be stripped of his award, weightlifter Izzat Artykov of Kyrgyzstan, the IOC announced two more expulsions from Rio because of doping violations.

Kleber Da Silva Ramos, a Brazilian road race cycler, tested positive for doping violations and did not request a hearing, according to the International Olympic Committee. Ramos did not finish his event on Aug. 6. He failed a pre-Olympics test; his fate beyond the Olympics will be determined by the International Cycling Union.

Xinyi Chen of China, who placed fourth in the 100-metre butterfly, has also accepted a suspension following a hearing of her case on Wednesday. Her fate past the Olympics now rests with the International Swimming Federation.

Several other athletes have been flagged for failing tests at Rio, and their cases are in the midst of hearings.
