The public and ongoing family feud between famous rugby league brothers Matty and Andrew Johns has taken a fresh twist, with the former a no-show on his regular radio program on Friday morning. Less than 48 hours after it was reported 'Joey' (Andrew) had quit his role on SEN because of the falling out with his brother, Matty was curiously absent for Friday's Morning Glory show.

Matty's no-show clearly took listeners by shock and came a day after he claimed his brother and eighth rugby league Immortal wanted to "bash" him as the fallout from their family feud escalates. SEN host Matthew White addressed the drama that has gripped the rugby league world, by explaining at the start of the show that Matty's absence was "pre-planned" and had nothing to do with the ugly saga around his brother.

“Now, no Morning Glory this morning,” White said on SEN. “Matty Johns has the morning off folks. Before you buy into it this one was pre-planned.

“I think Johnsy is off doing a fundraising event. So I was always scheduled to take over this one. Gee, there’s some focus on it, isn’t there? On this time of the morning, on this network, on this program. And deservedly so.

“Matty Will be back with me for the Monday morning round-up so make sure you tune in then. And then he’ll be back next Friday for Morning Glory. Joey? Not sure. I can’t answer that one.

“See into all that what you will, except for the fact this one was pre-planned and it’s great to be here this morning.” It comes after reports Joey quit his role on SEN over the infamous State of Origin blow-up with his brother. Matty admitted they haven't been on speaking terms for nearly two months after Joey took exception to his brother's glowing praise of the Maroon side.

"Put your Maroon jersey on, you should have some at home. Just because you played four games and lost four doesn’t mean you need to sh-t bag NSW," Joey told his older sibling in mid-May. "I'm sick of you (pumping up) Queensland. Keep blowing hot air up their ar*es."

Joey then failed to make an appearance on SEN for two consecutive weeks, with Matty claiming his brother was "completely off me". Fox League's James Hooper then reported Joey had quit the Friday SEN program for the remainder of the year.

It's understood SEN chief executive Craig Hutchison tried to step in to broker peace between the brothers - sadly to no avail. Matty said on a recent Daily Telegraph podcast that he understands Joey wants to "take my head off" the next time they cross paths.

“I’ve just heard through the grapevine that basically he’s said to people that next time he sees me, he’s going to take my head off,” Matty said. “Well, I just hope he’s learned to fight as opposed to the last time we had a little going over. No, I haven’t heard from him.”

The pair have been involved in blow-ups before and Matty admitted it wasn't unusual for them to have lengthy spells without speaking, before eventually reuniting. "The longest went for two years. That's the way the cookie crumbles. The show must go on," Matty said previously on his show.
