Erin Molan has addressed an alleged feud with Andrew Johns in a new interview, praising the NRL legend after months of nasty rumours.

The Sunday Telegraph first reported last year that Johns walked out on his role on Friday night football because of an ‘awkward’ falling out with Molan.

Johns started the 2019 season on Friday night footy alongside Molan, before disappearing midway through the year.

He was subsequently replaced by Billy Slater - which Channel Nine said was a selfless gesture from Johns to get Slater more air time.

However the Telegraph said Johns didn’t want to work with Molan.

Molan was brought to tears in an emotional radio interview in October after copping some ugly backlash from fans amid the rumours.

And she’s now moved to put the feud to bed, heaping praise on Johns in a new interview.

“Andrew Johns is an Immortal and he sees things in our game that no-one else can see,” Molan told Stellar magazine, available in this weekend’s Sunday Telegraph.

“I have so much respect for him, as I do all the guys I work alongside.”

Molan has been a target of NRL fans ever since replacing Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin on the Footy Show, which was subsequently axed.

Many fans unfairly blame Molan for the show’s demise, and the reports about Johns only fuelled the trolls.

However Molan says she’s learned to ignore it.

“The trolling used to upset me, but now I don't give a tinker's cuss,” she told Stellar.

Erin Molan’s tears over nasty treatment

Molan first broke her silence on the ugly saga in an interview with WSFM’s Jonesy and Amanda in October, wearing sunglasses because she couldn’t wear her contact lenses due to a lack of sleep.

“I am so sorry, I haven’t put my contacts in this morning. I had a rough night. I didn’t sleep very well and these are prescriptions,” Molan said.

Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller both threw their support behind Molan - bringing the Channel Nine presenter to tears.

“I get emotional with this Erin, I don’t understand why people give you a hard time,” Keller said.

“It pisses me off. And I think it’s because you are so professional and you are so good at your job, that I think that men don’t like you being good at what they still see as their world.

“I admire the pants off you or the eyeballs off you and I just think you are the most professional female and it’s threatened everybody.”

Massive public interest in the reports about Molan and Johns saw her attacked by fans online.

“The current trolling of @Erin_Molan is disgusting & makes me embarrassed to be part social media,” Supercars reporter Riana Crehan wrote on Twitter at the time.

“The horrific comments are totally inexcusable. Ez is the most brilliant human, broadcaster & mentor & what she has done away from TV goes beyond what many will ever dream to achieve.”
