UFC boss Dana White says Mayweather wouldn't stand a chance against McGregor

UFC President Dana White has joined in on the heated feud between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, saying the retired boxer is ‘boring’ and wouldn’t stand a chance against the Irishman.

The two champions of their sports have been involved in war of words this week, after McGregor won his UFC 205 bout over the weekend to become the first fighter in the sport to hold two title belts at the same time.

After Mayweather dismissed all comparisons between the pair and labelled McGregor an “ant”, White was quick to jump to McGregor’s defence.

"Conor McGregor, if he touches you, you go to sleep. Floyd puts people to sleep too, with his fighting style, not with his hands," White told TMZ.

“You know how Floyd knocks people out? When they’re not looking. Watch the Victor Ortiz fight.”
Earlier this week, Mayweather rattled off all of his achievements to highlight the differences between him and McGregor.

“I didn’t know Conor McGregor was undefeated. I didn’t know he had a reign in MMA for 20 years and undefeated and was world champion in five different weight classes. That’s something I didn’t know. So I guess you guys are telling me something new if you say he’s the Floyd Mayweather of the MMA,” he said.

“If you say he’s the Floyd Mayweather of the MMA, I’m trying to find out have you ever made $300 million in one night? Have you ever made $100 million in one night? Have you ever made $70 million in one night? So as far as saying he’s the Floyd Mayweather of MMA — it’s ok to say it but it’s not true.”

But White remained confident that ‘The Notorious’ could back up his words if he was ever given a chance in the boxing ring.

“This kid’s just getting started. This kid’s 28 years old. Floyd can say what he wants about Conor, but even other fighters have to respect him. He’s special,” White said.

“Floyd’s never even come close to doing to other fighters what Conor does.”

McGregor announced that he would fight Mayweather in the boxing ring for a cash fee of $100 million.
