Kendrick Perkins has detailed how he got revenge on his children after they racked up a $26,000 bill playing Fortnite.

The former NBA star revealed last month how his credit card was declined while trying to buy something in a store.

It was then that he discovered his children had been spending up big on the online video game.

“I get my credit card bill back. Come to find out, I got US$16,000 ($A26,000) worth of Fortnite bills on my credit card,” he told ESPN.

“It was from buying skins every day, whatever that is. I don’t even know what it is.”

Skins are the various outfits players can acquire in the game - both for free and as in-game cash purchases.

How Perkins and wife got revenge on kids

In the latest twist to the hilarious tale, Perkins has revealed the prank he and wife Vanity played on their kids to get revenge.

“So they went to school and right before school was let out, what we did was we went to the pawn shop and we bought a PlayStation, an old one for like 30 bucks,” the former NBA champion told Barstool’s ‘Pardon My Take’ on Wednesday.

“So we bought one that looked exactly like theirs and we threw it in the pool. And when they got home from school – we hid the one that they had because they were punished – so when they got home from school we made them go out and look at it.

“And we left it in there for like a week. And every time they would go, they would literally break down in tears.

“Like, no exaggeration! I’m talking about balling out in tears and I was loving every second of it.”

Perkins - an NBA championship winner with the Boston Celtics in 2008 - has two young children who have turned to video games to help get them through the countless hours stuck inside.

“I hate video games. My kids drive me crazy with it,” Perkins told ESPN.

"In my house there’s nothing but Fortnite, NBA2K – it just drives me crazy.”

Ironically for Perkins, Fortnite is free to download and play but makes an astronomical amount of money from gamers eager to purchase additional content.

It is estimated over 250 million people have downloaded Fortnite worldwide, across the various gaming platforms.
