‘ doesn't deserve to be on the podium’: Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo has slammed the questionable tactics deployed by Sebastian Vettel during the Mexican Grand Prix.

The German was handed third place after Ricciardo's Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen was handed a five-second time penalty after gaining an advantage going off the track..

During the race, Ricciardo attempted to pass Vettel, but the Ferrari driver was having none of it, pulling a move which Ricciardo compared to "moving under braking" – which has been banned after new rules were introduced ahead of the race.

"He did what everyone has been complaining about - moving under braking," said Ricciardo.

"He's smiling now but for me he doesn't deserve to be on the podium.

“He kept on closing the door under braking and in the end I had nowhere to go."

Vettel was not the only one to incur Ricciardo’s wrath, with the stewards also coming under fire for their failure to penalise Lewis Hamilton who cut the first and second corners after locking a wheel.

"He deserved a penalty," added Ricciardo. "It was a mistake and you have to pay the price."

Ricciardo went on to finish the race in fourth, with Verstappen dropping to fifth.
