Mundine fights back tears over TV show exit

Anthony Mundine fought back tears after revealing the reasons behind his sensational exit from reality TV show, 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.'

The 42-year-old took to social media to reveal that his stint on the reality TV show was coming to an end.

"It was an incredible experience but I miss my family and feel like I have accomplished everything I wanted to do," Mundine wrote.

"I did all but one of the trials (which I couldn’t compete in because of my foot) and met some great people and went out with a bang on an epic trial that you will see tonight."

On Thursday night, as Mundine alluded to, the programme aired a clip of the boxer confiding in actor Kerry Armstrong about why he decided to pull the pin.

"I'm struggling man. I just miss my kids," Mundine revealed.

"I tried but I've been struggling since I come (sic) in but I've been trying to just fight it out, you know.

"But I'm always there for them."

Armstrong did her best to try and persuade the 42-year-old to stick it out for the sake of his kids.

"But do you think the thing is they wouldn't want you to give up because that would break their hearts?" she asked.

"You will never live it down if you leave here. You'll be called a quitter on a show."

"It's not about quitting. I've never experienced something like this," Mundine added before fighting back tears describing how much his relationship with his kids means to him.

"Yeah it's the connection we have man like, especially my boy you know, Mundine said before the emotion became too much."

Mundine joins tennis star Bernard Tomic in exiting the show - the first time such an incident has happened in the show's three-season history.

The boxer quit after taking part in the notorious 'Viper Room' challenge, which involves being in a box filled with snakes.

“Viper Room seemed to push both Danny Green and Anthony Mundine to their limits,” Host Chris Brown told News Corp.

“The expectation was that that trial would bring them closer together but it seems it may have been the straw that broke The Man’s back.”
