Michael Clarke speaks out after wild altercation with Karl Stefanovic

Michael Clarke has apologised for his actions after video emerged of him in a wild public altercation with his girlfriend and Karl Stefanovic in a park in Noosa. The Daily Telegraph published the video on Wednesday night, showing Clarke arguing with girlfriend Jade Yarbrough - the sister of Stefanovic's wife Jasmine.

In the video, Ms Yarbrough can be heard accusing Clarke of cheating on her, reportedly with his ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards. Clarke is seen without a shirt and limping badly after seemingly inuring his leg.

Ms Yarbrough can be heard yelling at Clarke: “You f**ked her on December 17 … You f**ked her, you’re a f**king dog." Clarke responds: “Baby you’re wrong, you’re wrong.”

Ms Yarbrough appears to hit Clarke a number of times throughout the video. “Do it again, hit me. You’re wrong," he says. Clarke can be heard addressing Channel 9 presenter Stefanovic towards the end of the video, saying: "Carlos, don't you f***ing walk away."

Addressing the incident on Wednesday night, Clarke told the Telegraph: “My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable. I accept full responsibility for this altercation and am shattered by my actions”.

The incident reportedly took place on January 10 at a beachside restaurant in the Queensland resort town of Noosa. Onlookers were reportedly shocked by the behaviour, with children among those to witness the spat.

Clarke and Jade Yarbrough have been together since August, while Stefanovic has been married to Jasmine Yarbrough since 2018. Clarke was reportedly introduced to Jade by Stefanovic, who split with first wife Cassandra Thorburn in 2017.

Clarke briefly dated Edwards, a fashion designer, after his divorce with wife Kyly in 2020. Edwards said in a statement on Thursday: “This is not my circus. Yet again, Michael in his true nature has not taken responsibility for his actions and I was blatantly lied to.”

Clarke is a former captain of the Australian cricket team. He played 115 Test matches and 245 one-day internationals for his country and is widely regarded as one of Australia's greatest batters.

The 41-year-old scored 8643 runs at Test level at an average of 49.10, as well as 7981 runs in ODIs at 44.58. His 8643 runs at Test level are the fifth-most by an Australian in history after he was recently overtaken by Steve Smith.

Michael Clarke's rocky love life

Clarke and ex-wife Kyly announced in February 2020 that their seven-year marriage was ending. They said they remained committed to co-parenting daughter Kelsey Lee.

“I think I’m extremely lucky to have been able to go through a separation with the mother of my child and us still be great friends,” he said later that year. “I actually think Kyly and my friendship now is as strong as it’s ever been. We still talk daily and I think you’ve heard Kyly say as well both of us will always prioritise our daughter and a big part of that is a friendship between mum and dad.

“We were lucky in a sense that we went through our separation five or six months before it touched the media so that allowed us the time to deal with it. Like any break-up it’s always tough, so thankfully we were able to do that before it got out to the media. There’s a lot worse things in life. We’ve got a great relationship, a beautiful little girl and we move forward.”

Clarke later dated Edwards for a brief period before their relationship came to an end.
