Michael Clarke and girlfriend Jade Yarbrough have both been fined by Queensland Police after being filmed in a wild altercation in Noosa. Yarbrough could be seen slapping Clarke a number of times in the video while accusing him of cheating on her.

Queensland Police revealed on Saturday that Clarke and Yarbrough had both been fined for causing public nuisance. A police spokesperson said: "No other offences were detected during the investigation. There is no further information available and the investigation has been finalised."

The incident reportedly took place on January 10 and also involved Channel 9 presenter Karl Stefanovic. Jade Yarbrough is the sister of Stefanovic's wife Jasmine, with Stefanovic introducing Clarke to Jade.

The fine could be the first of a number of monetary blows for Clarke, with his $145,000 commentary gig in India now said to be in jeopardy. The former Test cricket captain of Australia is supposed to be heading to India in February as a commentator for the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI), but they are reportedly reviewing the role in light of the incident.

Clarke has also reportedly lost a sponsorship deal with a skincare brand, however his radio job on Sky Sports Breakfast is safe for now. TabCorp told AAP on Thursday that the matter is considered a private one and Clarke is expected to return to air as previously scheduled. Clarke is on pre-planned annual leave from his role, with the station's breakfast crew due to return on Monday.

The 41-year-old has been part of the Big Sports Breakfast team since he first partnered rugby league legend Laurie Daley in 2020. The former captain of Australia has had roles as part of the ICC broadcast team for recent global cricket tournaments, but currently has no other major media position in Australia.

Michael Clarke speaks out after wild altercation

Clarke has since apologised for his actions during the altercation and beforehand. He told the Daily Telegraph he accepts full responsibility for the incident and has been left shattered.

"I'm absolutely gutted I've put people I hold in the highest regard in this position," he said. "My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable. I own this fully and am the only one at fault."

In video published of the altercation, Ms Yarbrough can be heard accusing Clarke of cheating on her, allegedly with his ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards. She yells: “You f**ked her on December 17 … You f**ked her, you’re a f**king dog."

Clarke responds: “Baby you’re wrong, you’re wrong.” Clarke can also be heard addressing Stefanovic towards the end of the video, saying: "Carlos, don't you f***ing walk away."

Stefanovic has remained largely silent on the incident in the days since. He appeared on the Today Show in his normal role on Thursday and Friday without addressing the Clarke situation.

Edwards released a statement on Thursday, saying: “This is not my circus. Yet again, Michael in his true nature has not taken responsibility for his actions and I was blatantly lied to.” The fashion designer briefly dated Clarke after his divorce with wife Kyly in 2020 after seven years of marriage.

Clarke played 115 Test matches and 245 one-day internationals for Australia, captaining his country in both formats. He scored 8643 Test runs at an average of 49.10, as well as 7981 runs in ODIs at 44.58. His Test tally is fifth-most by an Australian in history after he was recently overtaken by Steve Smith.
