7th Tackle: Little white lines hurt no-one

Social media balls up of the week comes from the UK Super League, where Castleford youngster Tom Holmes had some explaining to do following a celebratory post in the wake of the team claiming its first minor premiership in 91 years.

The 21-year-old halfback posted a picture of himself in the jubilant dressing room, proudly holding the competition’s Leader’s Shield, which is awarded to the top-of-the-table outfit.

At first glance, there’s nothing unusual about the picture – some smiling team mates in the back ground, a few empty beer bottles in the foreground.

But hang on . . . look closely at the bottom left hand corner. Notice the two white lines? Sitting neatly on the wooden bench?

Several of Holmes’ followers did – and they all reached the same obvious conclusion:

Cocaine! But alas, it wasn’t quite to be so scandalous for our friends in the British tabloid press.

A Tigers spokesperson confirmed the two lines were merely scratches in the wood – and even supplied close-up photos to prove as much.

And Holmes did his bit too; swiftly posting a second picture with a paint brush alongside the suspicious indentions. “

Better fill in this chip in the wood for when we win our next trophy,” he joked.
