7th Tackle: $1m offer spells trouble for Foran

The Warriors always knew Kieran Foran was no sure bet to stick around beyond this season.

While Foran has spoken publicly about his desire to escape the Sydney madhouse, the reality is that his two young children reside in the Harbour City and it's likely he'll return.

The Warriors are painfully aware of this and have been super considerate during the off-season, which saw the playmaker return to Sydney every second weekend for visitation.

Knowing Foran is a very good chance of being back in Australia come 2018, New Zealand have already begun planning for a future without him. They've been in talks for some time with rookie half Ata Hingano about a two-year extension. We've told the offer is a handsome one - just shy of $1 million for the length of the contract.

Melbourne Storm courted Hingano heavily last year - he was even flown to Melbourne to meet the club's stars. But that interest now appears to have waned, leaving the Warriors in the box seat to keep him alongside long-term No. 7 Shaun Johnson.

As for Foran? The stories about him sounding-out the Brisbane Broncos were a surprise to us, and have subsequently been denied. But don't be surprised if he re-joins SFX management - the firm he dumped amid last year's turmoil. Their team of agents still keep in touch with him.

His top motivation to return to Australia is his children - and that means a Sydney club is the most likely destination.
