Incredible alley-oop buzzer beater lights up the NBA

An unbelievable last-gasp play with 0.06 seconds left on the clock has seen the Phoenix Suns snare a remarkable victory over Memphis in the NBA.

Memphis dropped to 10-24 on Wednesday and has three fewer victories than the Suns.

However, it’s not that they lost to the lowly Suns, but how that puts the depths of their season into perspective.

After Jarrell Martin seemed to guarantee overtime by scoring off a put-back dunk with 0.6 seconds remaining on the clock, the Suns used a timeout to advance the ball.

Dragan Bender threw the inbounds pass on a dime over Grizzlies centr Brandan Wright, with Tyson Chandler slamming home the game-winning alley-oop just before the buzzer.

The play had to be reviewed for a goaltending violation, because Chandler caught the ball over the rim, however, the Suns benefited from an obscure rule that eliminates goaltending on inbounds passes.

Meanwhile, Patty Mills helped the San Antonio Spurs claim another win but there was no such joy for fellow Australians Matthew Dellavedova, Thon Maker and Joe Ingles.

Guard Mills had 11 points in 22 minutes, including two three-pointers, in San Antonio's 109-97 home victory over the Brooklyn Nets.

In Milwaukee, Maker produced a huge block in the third quarter to deny Nikola Mirotic but the Chicago Bulls forward had the final say with 24 points in a 115-106 road win over the Bucks.

It was an eighth win for the Bulls in their past 10 games while the Bucks slipped to seventh in the east at 17-15.

Dellavedova contributed five points and five assists for the Bucks, who were led by Giannis Antetokounmpo's 28 points.

Joe Ingles has eight points and seven rebounds for the Utah Jazz in a 107-83 defeat at conference rivals the Denver Nuggets.
