Police in Illinois have charged a man in connection with several robberies and kidnappings last year.

Antonie Perteet, 33, was arrested on Tuesday by the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force in Chicago, Ill., for a string of crimes he allegedly committed between June and July last year, the Chicago Police Department said in a statement.

He was charged with vehicular carjacking with a firearm as well as armed robbery and kidnapping, police said in the statement. Authorities say Perteet allegedly held victims captive and robbed them at gunpoint, per the statement.

The series of crimes took place within weeks of last year in three Chicago neighborhoods, according to the statement.

On June 21, Perteet allegedly held a 33-year-old man against his will and robbed him, the statement says. Three days later, he allegedly kidnapped and robbed a 51-year-old man. On July 13, he allegedly carried out a similar attack on a 30-year-old victim, per the statement.

Authorities allege that Perteet was targeting his victims through the online dating app Grindr, per the Chicago Sun Times, ABC 7 Chicago and USA Today.

In another incident, on Oct. 8, Perteet allegedly went to the man’s house a day after the two connected on Grindr after the man shared his address, a Chicago prosecutor said, according to CWB Chicago.

Perteet, along with an unidentified friend, saw the victim walking his dog outside his home, then allegedly brandished a gun and forced the victim inside, per authorities, CWB Chicago reports.

The two allegedly forced the victim to share his bank details with them and give them his phone, authorities further allege. While the two went through the victim’s phone, Perteet allegedly stepped on the man’s face and threatened him to not look up, the prosecutor said, per the outlet.
