Swans signing spree continues with Florent committing

Sydney have continued their re-signing spree, locking down Ollie Florent for another five years.

Florent will remain at the club until at least 2029 after he opted out of exploring unrestricted free agency and a move back home to Melbourne.

Drafted in 2016 with pick No.11, the in-demand defender has become a crucial cog in the Swans' backline since his 2017 debut.

The 25-year-old speedster is notorious for causing trouble for the opposition on the half-back flank and will line up for his 150th match against rivals GWS on Saturday.

Florent says extending his contract, which was due to expire at the end of this season, was an easy choice.

"Being here for the next five years, that's something that's really special to me and my family," he said.

"I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be at this footy club. It's a great bunch of boys, great coaching staff and just a beautiful place to be.

"Ultimately, I want to win a premiership … I want to be playing, be healthy, play my role, doing the team stuff and getting the wins on the board."

Midfield stars Errol Gulden and James Rowbottom have already put pen to paper, both inking four-year deals last month.

Will Hayward and Logan McDonald remain the two major targets, with Hayward on the radar of rival clubs which  include both from his home state of South Australia.

Also attracting interest interstate, McDonald came out in early April to announce his intentions to stay in the red and white.
