Sam Kerr's brilliant gesture for Matildas fan

Matildas star Sam Kerr is clearly a woman of her word, following through with a promise she made to a diehard fan.

Kerr was absolutely on fire against Brazil on Tuesday night, bagging a double in Australia's 3-2 win in Newcastle.

And she was also in fine form after full-time with a brilliant gesture for a fan.

That fan goes by the name of Richard Cuthbert, a man who gained some attention on Saturday when the Matildas also beat Brazil in Penrith.

Cuthbert posted a photo on Twitter showing how he'd crossed out the name 'Neill' on the back of his Socceroos jersey and replaced it with 'Kerr'.

He also added a 0 to Lucas Neill's No.2 to change it to Kerr's No.20.

Kerr got wind of Cuthbert's new fandom and invited him to Newcastle on Tuesday night so she could personally present him with the jersey off her back.

And that's exactly what she did, inviting Cuthbert onto the field after the game to give him the game-worn jersey.

Apart from the fact Tuesday night's result marked the third-straight triumph over the South American powerhouse, it was also the Matildas' fifth successive victory - equalling their longest winning streak.

Kerr again stole the show with a brace as she further underlined her credentials for FIFA women's world player of the year.
