Viewers have reacted with shock after Colombian footballer Geisson Perea pulled down his underwear and appeared to expose himself in an X-rated move during a broadcasted football match.

Santa Fe visited Cordoba to take on rivals the Jaguares on Monday in a match that ended 2-1 to the home team in the Primera A division.

However, the match was marred when Colombian player Perea appeared to pull down his pants in just the fourth minute of the match.

Perea was lining up as part of a wall during a Jaguares free-kick when he pulled down his pants to slightly expose himself.

He did it right next to the referee.

Reports suggested it was an attempt for the defender to distract his opponent, while others suggested he was fixing his pants.

Regardless, the referee missed the peculiar move - which could have seen a sanction - as play continued.

And to make matters worse for the defender, the broadcast showed the incident and it sparked some backlash.

ESPN reporter Francisco Velez slammed the act and labelled it 'disrespectful' with thousands watching on television.

While the free-kick may have not come to much, the Colombian player couldn't stop Santa Fe's defeat to their rivals.

Perea stayed on the field after the incident, but Colombian officials could look to punish the player in retrospect since the incident has now garnered international attention.

The Jaguares ended up winning the match following a red card to Juan Gomez in the 77th minute.

Jaguares player Pablo Cardales went on to score his second goal in the 94th minute to seal the victory.
