The football world has gone into meltdown after reports from a number of sources claimed $800 million superstar Kylian Mbappe was looking to exit PSG after the World Cup.

The French 23-year-old put to bed speculation he would be joining Real Madrid when he signed a three-year contract for the Paris club worth anywhere between $AUD 400-800 million, according to reports.

However, an article from Spanish newspaper Marca read sources had claimed Mbappe's situation in Paris had broken down.

The French superstar has long been reported to be unhappy with certain situations at the club.

Marca's report was then backed up when leading football reporter Fabrizio Romano tweeted a similar claim.

ESPN also claimed sources had told them Mbappe's situation at the club had deteriorated.

Mbappe lined-up for PSG this morning in the Champions League and scored.

After the match, Mbappe did not address the rumours.

However, PSG director Luis Campos slammed the speculation.

“Mbappé has never told me or Nasser Al Khelaifi that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain in January," he said.

"Is Mbappé happy here? You should ask him, it’s a serious question. I see him working as a top professional."

However, the speculation had already taken over with football stars talking about the reports.

Premier League icon Thierry Henry pointed out that Mbappe may not like playing slightly out of position to accommodate icons Lionel Messi and Neymar in the PSG team.

"We know he doesn't like it," Henry said of Mbappe on CBS Sport.

"I will use my own story. I didn't like to play out wide for Barça. I hated it.

"There is one rule: if the boss asks you to do something, you do it, for the good for the team."

Liverpool great Jamie Carragher claimed the 23-year-old had too much control over the club.

"There is too much ego, power for a 23-year-old player...who is one of the best players in the world," he said.

"But it is too much for a young player. Someone just needs to tell him no."

Fans didn't know what to believe of the reports, but it didn't stop them calling for the talented Frenchman to join their club.

In their Champions League match, Mbappe opened the scoring with a first-half penalty before Joao Mario equalised with another spot kick in the 62nd minute.
