Seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has let rip at his Mercedes vehicle following a torrid start to his 2022 season.

Hamilton himself admitted his title chances are effectively over after hitting a new low at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The Brit's season went from bad to worse after he finished 13th and was lapped by defending world champion and race winner, Max Verstappen.

Hamilton is now 31 points behind Verstappen in the championship and 58 behind Ferrari's current leader Charles Leclerc.

Following the race, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff absolved Hamilton of blame and insisted the car the 37-year-old has been given to drive this year is not up to scratch.

And now, Hamilton has compared his vehicle to the McLaren car he drove in 2009.

“There are people that watch and say I’ve never had a bad car, and I can assure you that I have,” Hamilton told The Race publication.

“2009’s car was very, very far off, the worst car that I’ve had. This car currently is not far off that experience.”

Hamilton's revelation is an eye-opener for Mercedes.

In 2009, Hamilton was uncompetitive for at least half the season in the McLaren MP4-24.

Hamilton recovered after winning in Hungary and Singapore - and recording four pole positions in the last seven races - to salvage some of the season.

Hamilton won his first championship the year before, but the new 'skinny' aero regulations halted his progress at the time.

Miami GP F1 circuit mocked

Hamilton will compete in the first Miami GP in 22 years.

The seven-time world champion has been enjoying himself off the circuit having played golf with NFL legend Tom Brady.

The Miami International Autodrome was created to replace the Hard Rock Stadium carpark, which was not the original concept planned by the F1 who had hoped the race would take place near the water.

Despite this, bizarrely a marina looked to be included in the infield section of the track.

However, fans couldn't believe their eyes when they discovered the marina was fake.

The F1 community were quick to mock the design ahead of the Miami GP.
