Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton's radio chat has been revealed after Max Verstappen took over him in the final lap to claim the championship in Abu Dhabi.

Verstappen snatched victory off Mercedes' seven-time champion Hamilton after overtaking his fierce rival on an extraordinary final lap under lights at the Yas Marina Circuit.

The lead-up to that move was one of two things Mercedes were scathing about, with the team filing for reconsideration to the International Court of Appeal.

Verstappen overtook Hamilton on Lap 58 in thrilling style after a crash involving Nicholas Latifi brought out the safety car with just a few laps left and confusion surrounded the restart.

Aussie driver Daniel Ricciardo led the confusion on the final lap drama, unsure what the direction was from the race directors.

F1 race director Michael Masi came under fire after confusion around the safety car procedure.

This afforded Verstappen a clean run at Hamilton on the final lap and he was able to overtake the reigning champ.

However, Hamilton's radio to his team has been released and the British star was less than impressed.

"This is getting manipulated, man," Hamilton said.

The final lap caused huge division within the F1 world.

The 1996 world champion Damon Hill let his feelings known on social media.

“This is a new way of running the sport where the Race Director can make these ad hoc decisions,” he tweeted.

“Its been a bit too ‘guess what I’m going to do now’ I think.”

He later reeled in his opinion and said it would be a tough job being F1 director and making decisions within seconds.

Nico Rosberg, a former teammate of Hamilton and 2016 championship winner, said Masi's job is extremely tough.

“The world is watching and he has to take a decision in 15 seconds,” Rosberg said after the race.

“It is the last lap of the final race of the championship, the most pressurised of situations.

“His decision provided us with a magnificent racing moment and an unbelievable climax.

“Michael’s job was incredibly tough."

Lewis Hamilton all class after devastating loss

Despite the controversy, Hamilton was all class post race.

Following the tough loss, Hamilton shared some kind words of congratulations to Verstappen.

“Firstly, congratulations to Max and to his team," Hamilton told Sky Sports.

“I think we did an amazing job this year. My team, everyone back at the factory, have worked so hard this whole year, it’s been the most difficult of seasons. I’m so proud of them and I’m so grateful to be a part of the journey with them.

“This last part of the season we gave it absolutely everything and never gave up.”
