Conor McGregor has flat out denied having an altercation with rapper Machine Gun Kelly at the MTV Awards in New York, despite a mountain of videos online proving otherwise.

The UFC star, who was attending the awards alongside his wife, Dee Devlin, said 'absolutely nothing' happened between him and the entertainer.

Machine Gun Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, had arrived at the event with partner, actress and model Megan Fox, before the scuffle broke out on the read carpet.

McGregor appeared to throw a drink in the direction of Baker, while Fox was quickly ushered away.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight after the event, McGregor said 'nothing happened'.

“I don’t know. I just showed up and I don’t know. I don’t even know the guy to be honest with you. Just rumours," he said.

“Nothing happened with me. I only fight real fighters. People that actually fight. I certainly don’t fight little Vanilla Ice white rappers.

“I don’t even know the guy. I don’t know anything about him, except that he’s with Megan Fox.”

When quizzed about the incident later in the evening, Fox strangely said said she was not allowed to discuss it.

“We’re not allowed to say," she said.

A source told the New York Post that McGregor had been 'ready to throw fists', and that security was having difficulty keeping the situation in hand.

All of this occurred despite McGregor still recovering from a broken leg he suffered in his recent UFC loss to Dustin Poirier.

UFC stars filthy over Conor McGregor's behaviour at MTV Awards

After the event, McGregor's team put out a statement denying McGregor had started the altercations, after reported emerged he was slighted by the rapper denying him a photo opportunity.

“Conor McGregor did not ask anyone for a picture, nor did he instigate this incident,” a statement read.

“He does not know Machine Gun Kelly, outside of the fact that he attended Conor’s fight this past July.”

However, several of McGregor's UFC colleague were incredibly unimpressed with the Irishman's behaviour.

Former fighter Mike Swick tweeted that McGregor had lost all respect in the MMA world.

“Conor has lost his f***ing mind! You gotta be a family member to respect that man as a human anymore. He is proof money can’t buy class.

“MGK was performing! Don’t go to his gig and f*** his brain before performing dude. Not everyone wants to take a pic w/ you. Me included.”

Former boxer Antonio Tarver also took aim at McGregor, saying his bad behaviour in public was giving everyone else a bad name.

“I don’t know about y’all but I’m so tired of seeing this bully and straight thug continue to lash out in public places … it’s obvious that @thenotoriousmma is out of control and I don’t know what’s taking them so long to lock his disrespectful a** up.”
