UFC star Conor McGregor starts altercation during MTV Awards 'chaos'

UFC fighter Conor McGregor has caused chaos on the MTV red carpet after entering into an altercation with American rapper Machine Gun Kelly.

McGregor was hosting a segment at the MTV awards and arrived with his wife Dee Devlin in New York.

However, things took a turn when McGregor appeared to enter into a scuffle with the American rapper, before launching a drink in their direction.

Reports suggest McGregor asked for a photo with MGK, but was denied.

This frustrated the UFC fighter and after a brief moment, he appeared to throw a drink towards MGK.

Security were forced to intervene as a scuffle broke out.

Not long after the incident, MGK was asked about the altercation and instead slapped away the reporter's microphone before exiting with his partner Megan Fox.

McGregor addressed the incident, but played it down.

"I only fight real fighters. People that actually fight," he said.

"I certainly don't fight Vanilla Ice white rappers. I don't even know the guy.

"I don't know anything about him, except that he's with Megan Fox."

Fans on social media couldn't believe the bizarre incident.

After brushing off the 'chaotic' altercation, McGregor hosted a segment of the MTV Awards where he handed Justin Bieber the award for Artist of the Year.

The UFC star's appearance at the MTV Awards surprised many considering he is recovering from a broken ankle.

McGregor snapped his ankle in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier in July.

The Irishman has posted numerous videos of his rehabilitation with the fighter surprising many with how quickly he has recouped.
