USWNT celebrates World Cup with dancing, tears, locker-room rowdiness

The United States women’s national team – excuse us, the world champion United States women’s national team – is truly one-of-a-kind.

On the field, the 2019 World Cup queens are the greatest women’s soccer unit ever assembled.

Off it, they’re a unique group of personalities.

On the field, especially in training, they push one another harder than any of us could imagine.

Off it, they have more fun than any of us will ever have.

So when all that hard work resulted in the program’s fourth World Cup crown, first, they cried. Here’s midfielder Sam Mewis overcome by emotion on the field:

Jill Ellis, two-time World Cup-winning head coach, took in the scene:

Players did confetti angels:

They paraded around the field with flags and the trophy:

And then they went to the locker room for a once-in-a-lifetime party:

The team’s Twitter account kept it PG. Players, on the other hand ...

The USWNT’s rowdy postgame celebrations

Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle were the stars during the game. But afterward, backup goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris was the hero. A true woman of the people.

She posted a glorious – and expletive-laced – Instagram story that took fans inside the locker room to get a sense of the scene. Be forewarned, there is a lot of colorful language. But the content won’t disappoint.

Here’s Alex Morgan dancing:

Midfielder Allie Long contributed to the Instastory goodness as well:

Rapinoe, for a while, was stuck at the postgame news conference. Harris told her – or, rather, yelled at a TV – to “get your ass in the f***ing locker room!”

Pinoe obliged:

Then, back to more dancing:

(Thank you so, so much, Ashlyn.)

Lavelle made an appearance with ski goggles over her eyes and a beer in hand:

Tobin Heath and Christen Press made appearances:

So did Ali Krieger, of course. Harris and Krieger are engaged. Before they actually get married, though, they get to celebrate a world freakin’ championship together:

Harris and Morgan enjoyed some champagne together:

Harris and Kelley O’Hara enjoyed ... an apple?

Everybody sprayed some champagne and chanted “USA!”:

“This content is f***ing gold, b****,” Harris concluded. Which is quite the understatement.
