WNBA Finals, Game 2: How to watch New York Liberty vs. Minnesota Lynx
The New York Liberty are looking to bounce back on Sunday after the Minnesota Lynx stole Game 1 on the road in overtime fashion after trailing by as many as 18 points, tying the largest comeback in WNBA Finals history.
Liberty superstar Breanna Stewart missed a free throw in the final seconds of regulation and a layup in overtime that would have secured New York its' first ever Game 1 victory — The Liberty are 0-6 all-time in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals.
When asked how the Liberty will regroup after the 95-93 overtime loss, Stewart said they'll "take it on the chin."
"We were up a lot and then we had a wild kind of sequence to end the fourth. Didn't start overtime great. I had a great look at the end and I didn't make it," Stewart said. "But I think that this is a series. We wanted to really win, obviously, for home court. But the beauty is, we have another game on Sunday and we'll be ready."

How to watch Game 2 of the WNBA Finals

Liberty X-Factors for Game 2
New York's Jonquel Jones turned in a double-double performance on Thursday, recording a game-high 24 points and 10 rebounds, in addition to three assists and one steal. Jones got off to a hot start in the beginning of the game and the Lynx didn't really have an answer for her. Jones brought in four of the Liberty's 20 offensive rebounds and she will need to continue to play aggressive and use her size for the Liberty to get back into the series.
The Liberty will also need a better game from Sabrina Ionescu. Although Ionescu finished with 19 points, it wasn't an efficient outing for the Olympian. Ionescu shot 8-of-26 from the field and 3-of-9 from three-point range and looked visibly frustrated from the different coverages the Lynx were throwing at her. "Sabrina is a competitor. She'll get ready for Game 2 and come back strong," Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello said.
Lynx X-Factors for Game 2
Courtney Williams scored 15 of her 23 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, including a crucial 4-point play that helped the Lynx take the lead for the first time in Game 1 with 5.1 seconds remaining. Williams typically looks to distribute the ball first — the Lynx led the league with 23 assists per game during the regular season — but Williams will need to look to score the basketball to keep up with the Liberty.
How many titles does the New York Liberty have?
The Liberty are in pursuit of their first championship. New York got close last year — the Liberty made it all the way to the 2023 WNBA Finals before losing to the Las Vegas Aces in four games. The Liberty have made WNBA Finals appearances five other times (1997, 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2023) and have come up empty-handed each time.
How many titles does the Minnesota Lynx have?
The Lynx have four titles. In a span of seven years, the Lynx won four WNBA championships (2011, 2013, 2015, 2017) and made six Finals appearances, led by the group of Seimone Augustus, Lindsay Whalen, Maya Moore, Rebekkah Brunson and Sylvia Fowles. The 2024 WNBA Finals will mark the Lynx's first championship appearance since their 2017 title.
