Benjamin Alexander has created history becoming the first Jamaican alpine skier at the Winter Olympics and he produced a moment of brilliance following his run.

Alexander overcame a lack of financial support, the lack of a full-time coach and Covid-19 difficulties to become the first man from his nation to qualify as a skier at the Winter Olympics.

And in a remarkable feat, Alexander finished his run despite 35 athletes posting a 'Did Not Finish' because of the incredibly difficult conditions.

He was at the bottom of the pile after his first run, but the number of DNF's propelled him up the list.

The Dj-turned skier finished 46th overall with a time of 1:37.94, which was more than 30 seconds behind the winner.

“Fricking hell, that was hard,” he said after the race.

The women's freeski slopestyle was postponed after blizzard conditions.

However, the men's giant slalom went ahead in low visibility.

Alexander was thrilled after finishing and couldn't help but get excited for a drink afterwards.

"That was for everyone who thinks they don't belong in skiing. Get your kids into winter sports earlier."

"Let's change the game. Thanks. I'm exhausted - I need a massage and a beer."

Benjamin Alexander praised for Winter Olympics feat

Alexander sent out a strong message after his race to his home nation.

"Hardest thing I’ve ever done. For me, it was all about finishing," Alexander told Eurosport after the race.

"Some of the best guys in the world didn’t finish today so at least I’m ahead of those guys."

When adding what he wanted to achieve, the Jamaican said he wanted to show his nation what could be achieved.

"It’s a continuation of the Cool Runnings story and that’s why I made my outfit like this as well," he added.

"I’m so happy to be the 15th person to ever qualify for the Winter Games holding the Jamaican flag and really, despite my time I want to inspire the next generation of Jamaicans to come out here and to start skiing younger than 32."

Fans around the world quickly praised Alexander for showcasing the Olympic spirit.
