Aussie bronze medallist Tess Coady was in medal contention during the Big Air finals before suffering a brutal crash at the Winter Olympics.

Only a week after winning bronze in the snowboard slopestyle, Coady entered the finals in seventh spot.

However, things quickly changed when she scored a whopping 85.00 on her first jump to put her in third position.

The 21-year-old was sitting behind Austrian Anna Gasser and New Zealander Zoi Sadowski-Synnott.

Unfortunately, Coady wasn't able to maintain her momentum into her next two jumps.

The Aussie fell in her second jump and was overtaken on the scoreboard.

Needing a big jump in her final run, Coady slipped at the start and lost control in the air to crash land.

Tess Coady in good spirits after finals

The 21-year-old was fine and was in good spirits after her attempt.

"Even though I didn't land those two attempts, I'm super pumped because I have never tried that trick in competition," Coady said, with a smile beaming from ear to ear.

"Honestly, that was such a sick day."

Coady said it was an 'insane' finals to be a part of, before showering her computers with praise.

When asked what was next, Coady was ready to celebrate.

"Party, the party is going to start in like 10 minutes. As soon as I get through the mix zone," she said.

Austria's Gasser scored an incredible 95.50 to win the gold medal.

Sadowski-Synnott was forced to go big in an attempt to retain 1st position, but ultimately crashed trying to land a 1260.

This allowed Japan's Murase Kokomo to claim bronze.
