Why should you watch The Showdown? Here are 3 reasons to tune in to the Las Vegas match

We're just hours away from the start of The Showdown, a made-for-TV match between the PGA Tour's Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy versus LIV Golf's Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.

Sin City will once again host four of the world's best with millions in crypto — and bragging rights, in more ways than one — on the line. The people have been clamoring for a Tour vs. LIV match since the Saudi circuit began poaching the game's top talent, and Tuesday night is when they'll get it.

Recently, these matches have lost some of their juice. But The Showdown is a different animal.

Here are three reasons why you should tune it.

Will Rory McIlroy get his "revenge" on Bryson DeChambeau?

Revenge, admittedly, is a little strong — we're comparing a made-for-TV match and a major championship — but the point (kinda) holds.

McIlroy gift-wrapped the U.S. Open for DeChambeau earlier this year, making three bogeys in his final holes thanks to a few short misses with the flat-stick. We already heard a nice chirp from DeChambeau regarding the Northern Irishman's collapse down the stretch at Pinehurst No. 2, and we're sure that won't be the last one.

If anything, the afternoon of June 16 adds some spice to this matchup.

Status of DeChambeau and Koepka's relationship

DeChambeau and Koepka have been buddy-buddy so far throughout the rollout of The Showdown, but we'll get a better look at their actual relationship during the match.

Will Koepka joke with Scheffler and McIlroy, or will he really have DeChambeau's back?

They've come a long way from that viral — and hilarious — moment at Kiawah in 2021 when Koepka gave one of the biggest eye-rolls in human history, but are they really on the same side now? It's going to be fun finding out.

The gap between Scottie and the rest of the world

A few weeks ago, Scheffler won the Hero World Challenge by six shots. Keep in mind that everyone in that field played high-level golf in 2024, and it was just another walk in the park for the world No. 1.

Now, he'll share the spotlight with three players who weren't in the Bahamas and who are considered the top players in the game.

Will he dominate like he did at Albany, or are McIlroy, Koepka and DeChambeau closer to him than the 19 others who played in Tiger's event?

Tough to think it'll be anything but the former.
