Where is the 2025 Super Bowl? What to know about New Orleans' Caesars Superdome

One of the biggest party scenes in the United States is set to host one of the country's biggest events.

While February will be kicked off with Punxsutawney Phil's prediction as it relates to winter's fate, that isn't keeping the NFL from heading south.

It's a familiar setting at one of the more historic venues in the league as New Orleans returns to the big stage. Fittingly enough, history is also on the line when the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles collide on the gridiron.

Here's what to know about the Super Bowl's location in 2025.

Where is the 2025 Super Bowl?

The 2025 Super Bowl will be played at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The home of the New Orleans Saints, the Superdome has undergone renovations in recent years and is now set to host its eighth Super Bowl in the building's history.

That's the most of any venue, as the 50-year-old stadium is hosting the big game for the first time since 2013.

Super Bowl 47 was the first time two brothers coached against each other in the event as the Harbaugh brothers, Jim and John, faced off in New Orleans. The game was plagued by a power outage that lasted 33 minutes. John's Ravens would go on to defeat Jim's 49ers, 34-31.

When did the Superdome open?

The Superdome opened in August 1975 after breaking ground on the project in August 1971.

It's the fifth-oldest stadium in the NFL, ranking behind the Bears' Soldier Field (1924), Packers' Lambeau Field (1957), Chiefs' GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium (1972) and Bills' Highmark Stadium (1973).

The Bills will debut a new stadium in 2026, so the Superdome will slide into fourth place. That is probably the highest they can get on the list, considering the other three stadiums will unlikely be replaced anytime soon.

How much did the Superdome cost?

The initial cost to build the Superdome was $134 million. Hurricane Katrina notoriously took aim at the stadium when it devastated the region in 2005, which made for a costly rebuild. The total cost to repair the building was $336 million, which FEMA, Louisiana and the NFL funded.

Before the 2024 NFL regular season began, another round of renovations was completed in preparation for Super Bowl 59. The project aimed to modernize the building and cost $560 million.

Superdome seating capacity

There is no definitive number regarding seating capacity for a football game at the Superdome. The number has changed over time due to renovations, leading to different reports, but it is generally around 75,000. Regardless, it's not disputed that the venue is massive, highlighted by its ability to hold 83,000 people for a concert.

Future Super Bowl locations

After New Orleans, the NFL will make its way to the Golden State for the next two Super Bowls.

Super Bowl 60 will be played at the home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles will host Super Bowl 61.

In October, the NFL announced that it awarded Super Bowl 62 to Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
