West Ham: Crysencio Summerville explains Mohammed Kudus celebration in Manchester United win

West Ham hero Crysencio Summerville has explained why he celebrated with Mohammed Kudus after scoring against Manchester United on Sunday.

The summer signing opened the scoring after coming on as a substitute as the Hammers beat the Red Devils 2-1, thanks to Jarrod Bowen’s controversial late penalty.

It was a much-needed win for Irons boss Julen Lopetegui, who made a raft of changes at half-time following a poor display in the opening 45 minutes.

Summerville was one of them, replacing Carlos Soler at the interval and duly repaid his manager’s trust by stretching to follow up a mis-hit from Danny Ings and give West Ham the lead.

Casemiro would equalise before Bowen struck from the spot after VAR adjudged Matthijs De Ligt to have fouled Ings.

After scoring, former Leeds star Summerville ran to the bench to celebrate with the suspended Kudus, having predicted scoring before coming on.

"I saw Danny [Ings] was going to hit the ball and just anticipated and thought yes I'm going to reach this ball,” he told the BBC.

“A lot of emotions because every forward player wants to play. I try to help the team in any way I can.

"I said to [Mohamed] Kudus if I go on I'm going to score so that's why I went to him."
