Most recently, the Sounders made a resounding statement, defeating the reigning MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew 4-0 last Saturday, albeit in a slightly misleading result as the Crew were forced to use a field position player at goalie due to archaic MLS roster rules.

SKC’s Jake Davis did get a red card in the 92nd minute of the match, leaving him unavailable for selection against Seattle on Sunday.
To its credit, Kansas City did lock up a spot in the US Open Cup Final by defeating the Indy Eleven 2-0 on Aug. 27. The US Open Cup Final will take place on Sep. 25 against mighty LAFC.
