Vonn happy with 'solid' comeback ski races in Colorado

Lindsey Vonn has put in another solid performance as she returned to competitive Super-G racing after nearly six years away.

The 40-year-old, who raced in two downhills on Saturday, placing 24th and 27th as she officially ended her 2019 retirement, came home 24th and 19th in the Super-Gs at the same second-tier FIS meet in Copper Mountain, Colorado.

American compatriot Lauren Macuga was fastest twice amid a bunch of top skiers on the start lists on Sunday.

Vonn, who has won 82 World Cup races, Olympic gold in 2010 and two World Championship titles, decided to come out of retirement after having an artificial knee joint fitted.

She wants to compete in World Cup races again and rumours are swirling that she may at least be a forerunner in the speed events in Beaver Creek next weekend.

She posted on X on Sunday: "Well ... after a solid weekend of races, I am now qualified to race World Cup! Now let's see when I'm ready."
