Usain Bolt has encouraged people to keep social-distancing in the most Usain Bolt way possible.

Taking to social media on Sunday, the athletics legend posted an iconic photo from his victory in the 100m final at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The photo shows Bolt celebrating after crossing the line way ahead of his rivals.

But it was the caption that sent fans into a frenzy.

“Social distancing #HappyEaster,” Bolt wrote, referencing just how far ahead of his rivals he actually was.

Bolt’s tweet immediately went viral, retweeted 76,000 times and garnering 420,000 likes by Tuesday morning.

Bolt's chest-thumping celebration in Beijing added to a legend that grew further when he won the 200m in another world record time.

He retired in 2017 with eight Olympic gold medals and the current 100m mark of 9.58sec, set in 2009.

Bolt, 33, has been encouraging Jamaicans to self-isolate during the coronavirus pandemic, posting videos of himself exercising at home and juggling footballs with a friend.

He also helped promote a major fundraiser - Telethon Jamaica.

Britney Spears’ bizarre Usain Bolt claim

A number of fans referenced Britney Spears when responding to Bolt’s tweet after the pop star made a bizarre claim she had beaten his world record last month.

The Baby One More Time singer took to Instagram to post a screenshot of her latest workout stats, telling fans that she had managed to run 100 metres in 5.97 seconds.

A truly extraordinary claim considering Bolt’s 100m world record is 9.58 seconds.

America’s Florence Griffith-Joyner holds the women’s world record with a time of 10.49 seconds.

Britney’s post was later deleted, but the caption read: “Ran my first 5 !!!! Getting over your fear of pushing it in the beginning is key …. once I did that I hit 5 !!!!!

“Usually I run 6 or 7 …. my first try was 9 …. and now I did it whoop !!!!! 100 meter dash.”

Fans were quick to call Britney out online, with one person writing: “Patriots sign Britney Spears after record-shattering 100m dash.”

“She's four seconds faster than Usain Bolt!,” another user wrote.
