Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has sent a message to UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski after the Australian joked about their 'lack of hair'.

Volkanovski is set to defend his featherweight title this weekend against American Brian Ortega at UFC 266.

But with combat world watching, the Aussie has decided to sport a new look before the fight

Having appeared in a number of interviews, Volkanovski showcased his new shaven haircut.

When asked in a UFC Embedded episode, Volkanovski said he cut his own hair because he hasn't been able to get a haircut due to Sydney's lockdown restrictions.

“Lockdown, aye, we’re in lockdown at home, I can’t get to my barber," the Australian said with a laugh.

"Just do it myself. But like I said, no one remembers heroes when they had hair. Like who remembers The Rock when he had hair?”

Volkanovski's coach Joe Lopez added: “Who remembers (UFC boss) Dana White when he had hair?”

To which Volkanovski replied: “Who was Joe Rogan when he had hair? As soon as you shave ...”

The video made its way to Johnson.

And The Rock appeared to agree with the Aussie champ, before wishing him luck this weekend.

"No one remembers when we had hair, brother," The Rock wrote.

"Shave it off and keep kickin’ ass champ!"

Volkanovski quickly replied: "I guess I'm staying bald."

The Australian is looking to enter some elite UFC territory if he is victorious on the weekend.

Volkanovski is on a 17 win streak, which includes nine in the UFC.

A victory on the weekend will put him in the class of only 10 others fighters to have won 10 consecutive UFC fights in a row.

Some of these names include GOAT contenders Jon Jones and Anderson Silva.

Kamaru Usman is Yahoo Sports No.1 Pound-for-Pound fighter and has won 14 of 14 UFC fights.

Khabib Nurmagomedov, another name in the discussion for GOAT, went 13 for 13 in the UFC.

ARguably the greatest of all-time, Georges St-Pierre, won 13 in a row.

So did Max Holloway and Demetrious Johnson.

Amanda Nunes and Tony Ferguson each won 13 in a row.

And Royce Gracie won 11.
