'Absolutely disgusting': Outrage over UFC star's 'disgraceful' act

Jorge Masvidal has sparked uproar with his actions after producing the fastest knockout in UFC history.

Masvidal shocked the UFC world on Sunday when he took just five seconds to flatten Ben Askren.

As the bell rang to start the fight, Masvidal charged towards Askren and executed the perfect flying knee KO, immediately knocking out his opponent.

He then delivered a number of brutal punches to a clearly unconscious Askren before the referee managed to call off the fight.

After a spiteful build-up to the fight, Masvidal wanted to flaunt his victory.

The American mocked Askren being knocked out, flopping to the canvas and flailing around - all while his opponent was lying unconscious next to him.

He also had words with Askren as he lay prone, even though he probably couldn’t hear them.

Masvidal’s many mocking taunts of Askren following the history-making knockout took much longer than the fight itself.

Leading up to the grudge match, the two had taunted one another over social media and in person, with Askren even going so far as to suggest that Masvidal didn’t understand Askren when he addressed him in English.

In return, Masvidal promised to end Askren’s career.

The unsavoury scenes took the shine off the historic KO for many fans, who blasted Masvidal for his ‘classless’ display.

Misvadal remains defiant

Asked about his celebrations after the fight, Masvidal was defiant.

“That dude was talking wild, man,” he said.

“I had to show him that there’s consequences, sometimes.

“There’s some bad motherf------ out there. You don’t want to wake them up.”

Asked about throwing the two punches when Askren was obviously out, Masvidal was equally defiant.

“The referee hadn’t pulled me off and my job is to hit someone until the referee pulls me off,” Masvidal said.

“For those people [who didn’t like those punches], I’d say don’t watch MMA. Go watch soccer.”
