NFL injuries: Tyreek Hill seen in walking boot after Dolphins' loss to Jets

Losing 40-17 to the New York Jets was rough enough for the Miami Dolphins, but a Tyreek Hill injury could make it an abject disaster.

The Dolphins' All-Pro wide receiver wore a walking boot on his left foot following the loss Sunday, though he reportedly told the media he's feeling fine. Miami head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters the injury occurred late in the game:

We had to pull Tyreek at the end. He got stepped on pretty hard ... He's a very quick healer. I'm very optimistic, but at this point I don't really know [his prognosis], no.

Hill finished with seven receptions on seven targets for 47 yards, a relatively quiet game for him but still the best numbers from any Dolphins receiver. He entered the game questionable with a quad injury after a limited week of practice.

The Dolphins paid a high price for Hill this summer, trading a first-round draft pick, a second-round pick, two fourth-round picks and a sixth-round pick to the Kansas City Chiefs, then giving Hill a four-year, $120 million deal with $72.2 million guaranteed. Hill has rewarded that gamble, leading the NFL in receiving yards entering this week with 477 plus two touchdowns.

Losing Hill for even a small amount of time would be a blow to the Dolphins, who already have plenty to worry about in the injury department.

Injuries are wrecking Dolphins' season

It's been that kind of season for the Dolphins, who were left playing their third-string quarterback, rookie Skylar Thompson, after backup Teddy Bridgewater — subbing in for Tua Tagovailoaleft the game after one drive with head and elbow injuries.

Star cornerback Xavien Howard also missed the game with a groin injury, while left tackle Terron Armstead did not return after leaving with a toe injury.

The Dolphins looked like a team ascending when they started 3-0 with wins over the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills. Now they're probably just praying to get healthy.
