Tymal Mills' devastating reveal about daughter after withdrawal from BBL
The English cricketer has opened up about his last-minute withdrawal from the Big Bash League in Australia.
English cricketer Tymal Mills has revealed his sudden withdrawal from the BBL was due to a stroke suffered by his daughter. Mills was due to play for the Perth Scorchers in the BBL this season, but was a late withdrawal on the eve of the tournament due to what was described as a 'family emergency'.
On Wednesday, the 30-year-old revealed in an Instagram post that his two-year-old daughter had suffered a stroke while they were at the airport preparing to fly to Australia. The fast bowler posted a photo of himself and his daughter leaving hospital after 11 days.

"Home for Christmas after the most horrible 11 days. As we were at the airport about to leave for Australia our daughter suffered what ending up being a stroke," Mills wrote. "She lost complete use of the left side of her body and we were told they couldn’t predict how much she would regain."
Thankfully, Mills revealed his daughter has bounced back sooner than expected. He added: "Despite all of the challenges she faced our little girl has amazed everyone with her recovery to point where we were discharged with her hopping and skipping out of the hospital.
"She has lots of rehab, medication and scans ahead but we are so grateful to be where we are right now. Thank you to everyone that’s reached out to us. Keep your loved ones close."
Cricket world rallies around Tymal Mills
Mills played seven games for the Scorchers last season as the Perth side won the BBL title. He was re-signed by the club in the inaugural player draft earlier this year. The left-arm seamer was an unused squad member as England won the T20 World Cup in Australia last month.
A club statement from the Scorchers at the time of Mills' withdrawal read: "Perth Scorchers fast bowler Tymal Mills will not be available for the 2022/23 KFC Big Bash League season due to a family emergency. Mills was recruited by Perth in the inaugural BBL12 Draft after playing an important role during the Scorchers' title-winning BBL11 campaign.
"The club fully supports Mills' decision, and sends its thoughts and best wishes to his family during this time. Perth is exploring its options to recruit a replacement international player."
Mills' withdrawal came after the Scorchers also lost fellow Englishman Laurie Evans after he tested positive for a banned substance. Evans, who was man of the match in last season's BBL final, confirmed that he tested positive during this northern hemisphere summer.
"The club is disappointed to learn of Evans’ positive anti-doping test result relating to a sample provided in August 2022," a Perth Scorchers statement read. "Due to the circumstances the Scorchers, and Laurie and his management have decided to mutually terminate his contract for the 2022-23 KFC Big Bash League season. The club will explore its options to source a replacement player for the tournament."
The Scorchers are currently fourth on the BBL ladder after a 1-1 start to the season. Cricket fans and players have been sending their well-wishes to Mills and his family.
